Slovakia Core Inflation Rate at 3.20 percent


Annual core inflation rate in Slovakia rose to 3.2 percent in January 2020 from 2.9 percent in the previous month, its highest since August 2018. Foodstuff prices climbed 5.9 percent, accelerating from 5.7 percent in December; and net inflation, without changes of indirect taxes jumped to 2.6 percent, the highest since October 2018. On a monthly basis, core consumer prices jumped 1.2 percent, the most since series began in 2007.

Slovakia Inflation Rate at 3.00 percent


Slovakia's annual inflation stood for the second consecutive month at 3 percent in January 2020, the highest level since December 2012. Prices rose further for recreation & culture (2.9 percent vs 2.4 percent in December); transport (5.6 percent vs 3.6 percent); furnishings (1.7 percent vs 1.3 percent); restaurants & hotels (2 percent vs 1.5 percent); education (4.9 percent vs 4.5 percent); communication (2.1 percent vs 1.8 percent) and health (1.4 percent vs 1 percent). Meanwhile, costs slowed for food & non-alcoholic beverages (4.4 percent vs 5.3 percent); housing & utilities (2.8 percent vs 2.9 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (3.2 percent vs 3.5 percent) and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (1.9 percent vs 2.5 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices inched up 1.2 percent, the most since January 2012, compared to market expectations and previous month's figure of -0.1 percent.
